ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Wednesday expressed annoyance over granting stay order by Sindh High Court (SHC) in a case pertaining to the prices of medicines.
A 3-member bench of the apex court presided over by CJP Mian Saqib Nisar resumed the hearing of the case on Wednesday.
CJP remarked: “The stay orders are being distributed in the SHC with eyes closed. No one fears God.”
Expressing annoyance over the decision to grant stay order by the SHC, the CJP remarked that the SHC should decide on petitions regarding stay order within 15 days and remarked that if the SHC does not decide in the said period, the order will be vacated.
He further remarked that the matters related to health and medicines should run on war footing basis, adding that there have been reforms in the Drug Regulatory Authority, but they cannot anything as the court is granting stay orders.
The court while seeking record pertaining to medicines in SHC has issued notices to all the concerned parties and adjourned the hearing for an indefinite period.
